Jungle basilisk (Female)
The Jungle Basilisk is a large carnivorous bird-like creature whose disheveled green feathers camouflage it among the leaves of it's habitat. They hunt in packs, leaping with agility through the branches of trees or up stony embankments after prey.
Males employ a different hunting technique. Their plumage and brightly colored wattle make it resemble native pitcher plants, the contents of which supply nutrients for many species in the jungle. It waits motionless, sometimes for days at a time, waiting for the opportune moment to spring like a viper and poison it's prey, the effecting paralysis has been described as being slowly turned to stone.
Male to come next.
