Alien Avatar 2.0

Now that I know how to make skins for the Second Life avatar meshes, I decided to redo my classic alien avatar (which only existed on the Xstreet market for about a month before the new marketplace opened) I was even able to used the same textures from my sculpted pieces to make the skin, which saved a lot of time.

In retrospect it was pointless to sculpt pieces for a humanoid body, but then again I didn't know how to make skin textures at that point so, *shrugs* whatever.

Anyways, I'll be animating him and submitting him to the SL market place this coming week, to hopefully be released side by side with the Queen of Blades.

Art award retrospective.

I did a Google search for my name to see if my newly uploaded website is up and running.

andrewminniear.com

and found the following on the Western Middle School webpage.

MAEA High School State Art Winners
Kathryn Marshall - 2011 Top 100 in the state
Madison Palmer - 2010 Michigan Youth Arts Festival
Anna Zerull - 2009 Top 100 in the state
Rachel Mathews - 2008 Top 100 in the state
Amanda Trudell - 2007 Michigan Youth Arts Festival
Alyson Sommerfield - 2006 Top 100 in the state
Andrew Minniear - 2004 Top 18 in the state
Amber Fridd - 2003 Michigan Youth Arts Festival

Its surprising how one vaguely creepy pen and ink drawing got me into the top 18 in the state for 2004, in comparison to some of the other very talents students. I've always been encouraged by this; even creepy stuff can compete with more traditional artistic subjects.

I'll have to upload a picture of it sometime soon.
